Mets Announce Move After Nationals Game

The New York Mets have been incredible to begin the season. Despite a tough loss to the Washington Nationals on Sunday, New York has begun the season with a 19-9 record that is good for a 4.5 lead in the National League East over the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Mets this offseason pushed all their chips to the table, as evidenced by the $765 million signing of Juan Soto. Their goal is to improve on their 2024 campaign, which saw them advance to the NLCS. Before the Mets can think about their next postseason trip, they will need to continue to make roster moves to modify their roster as they welcome back key players from injury.

After Saturday’s game against the Nationals, the Mets took to their X account to announce a series of Roster Moves.

Per the team, left-handed pitcher A.J. Minter has been placed on 15-Day IL with a left lat strain and right-handed pitcher José Ureña has been selected from Triple-A in a related move. Additionally, infielder Ronny Mauricio has been placed on a minor league rehab assignment in Single-A.

Minter left Saturday’s game in the eighth inning after experiencing discomfort in his tricep. Ureña has been solid for the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate this season. In 9.1 innings pitched, the 33-year-old has a 2.89 ERA with a 1.39 WHIP. He has started in all three games he has appeared in for Syracuse.

Mauricio will begin his rehab assignment as he continues his recovery from his torn ACL. After undergoing surgery in 2023, he had a follow-up procedure in 2024 to remove excess scar tissue.
