ALEXANDRIA — 312 golfers are set to compete in the 2025 PGA Professional Championship from April 27-30, at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, two of whom are from the Alexandria area.
Brady Swedberg of Geneva Golf Club in Alexandria and Scott McDonald of Minnewaska Golf Club in Glenwood have qualified for the championship.
Swedberg and McDonald are two of seven Minnesota PGA professionals competing in the tournament.
Swedberg and McDonald qualified for the PGA Professional Championship by placing in the top eight at the 94th Minnesota PGA Professional Championship on Aug. 26-27, 2024, at the Braemar Golf Course in Edina. Swedberg tied for third at the 2024 Minnesota PGA Professional Championship (136, 8-under par), while McDonald tied for eighth (139, 5-under), securing the qualifying final spot.
The top 20 finishers at the 2025 PGA Professional Championship qualify for and compete in the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, from May 15-18.
Round one of the PGA Professional Championship on Sunday will be broadcast on a tape delay on the Golf Channel from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Central time). The final three rounds will be broadcast on the Golf Channel from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Central time).
