  1. Right, we are getting in soooo many messages, to thank you and keep them coming.
  2. Bear with us as we try to get through them. We can’t promise to publish them all, but we will continue to drop in as many as we can as the morning progresses.
  3. Let’s just savour some of the colour of the day.
  4. The images were spectacular…

  6. We got lucky in the ballot and travelled from Kent, like we do several times a season. The best day, from the 05:30 start with Liverpool songs in the car to 1am dancing in the city. A day I’ll never forget. Even better to share it with my brother. Back next month for the last game, which we had to move our holiday for! Thanks to my husband for agreeing – despite being a Spurs fan!

  10. It was certainly never going to be easy for Tottenham.
  11. They did take the lead through former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke, but Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou said the atmosphere of the occasion made if difficult for his side to build on that:
  12. “Once they got in front, especially with this atmosphere today, it was always going to be hard for us to claw that back, and that’s how it proved to be.
  13. “In general, after the first half hour, once they got ahead I thought they pretty much controlled the game and we found it hard to get to grips with them.”

  15. What a day, what a night. Glorious scenes yesterday in and around Anfield. My hangover can vouch for that, but it was so worth it.
  16. I watched the game in a pub near the ground and spent hours afterwards wandering the streets around the stadium. It was like a carnival. I felt some sympathy for Spurs. There isn’t a club anywhere that could have stopped Liverpool in front of that crowd, in that mood, from getting what they wanted. Spurs were utterly steamrollered.

  21. It is one of the most famous anthems in football and can bring up the goosebumps at any old time.
  22. Yesterday, though, it was belted out with an energy like never before.
  23. After the vintage ‘One Kiss’ by Dua Lipa had been blasted over the tanoy and a bit of Freed From Desire, You’ll Never Walk Alone entered the playlist.
  24. The players and staff, led by captain Virgil van Dijk, immediately paused their wild celebrations to link arms on the edge of the 18-yard box and face the Kop as the song started to build.
  25. Those that had worked so hard to bring a 20th league title to the club were then serenaded with one of the best renditions of You’ll Never Walk Alone that Anfield will ever likely see.
  26. The players, staff and some fans were visibly moved as the camera panned between them all.
  27. A truly unforgettable moment for all involved.

  30. I’ve never seen such a calm and consistent performance by a team in winning the Premier League before. Slot is the key to this win. He is so cool and humble. This feels different to Klopp’s win for sure.

  33. After the immediate post-match celebrations had calmed just slightly, Liverpool manager Arne Slot found a moment to grab a microphone to serenade the crowd.
  34. Not with a chant about himself, or a player, or even the club – but with one about his predecessor, Jurgen Klopp.
  35. “Jurgen Klopp, la la la la la la,” – sung Slot, which quickly began to echo around the ground with every red in the house joining in.
  36. It was a fitting full circle moment after Klopp had serenaded the Kop with Arne Slot’s name after his final game as manager of the club.
  37. A reminder folks not to be shy with your messages.
  38. We want to put a name to your message – especially if they come with a rosette pic attached!

  40. Scouser living in New Zealand, and better yet, the 28th is my birthday, so we won the title five hours into my birthday. Perfect start to the day I say.
  41. I’ve been going week in week out now for 43 years on the Kop thanks to my dear old mum who is very poorly at the moment. I will cherish my rosette from yesterday forever. Thanks mum ♥️

  53. Liverpool manager Arne Slot on the fans’ support on what was an emotional day at Anfield: “The moment when we arrived with the bus, everybody could feel that we were never, never going to lose this game.
  54. “The fans were so supportive before the game, during the game that even when we were 1-0 down you could feel that these fans and this team were able to get this one over the line.”
  55. And on the help given to him by former manager Jurgen Klopp: “Many moments in this season the two of us had either WhatsApp contact or we spoke to each other.
  56. “So I think he showed last season when he said farewell what kind of a human being he is by introducing me the way he did.
  57. “That, of course helped, but the thing that helped the most was that he left a team behind that was able to win a trophy.”

  59. I’m 33. Seen my team win it all. But yesterday was different. Because what happened yesterday never happened before in my lifetime. Was celebrating with my little girl in my lap and we were both chanting ‘Liverpool, Liverpool, Liverpool’! She wasn’t around in 2020! So it makes it even better. Memories that will stick with me forever and I hope it’s the start of something even bigger. When the final whistle went, it felt powerful, poetic and extremely emotional. You could see that in the way the players celebrated, especially the ones who had one it in 2020 but couldn’t celebrate like yesterday. Arne has been effective and the way in which he’s gone about his work, has been brilliant. All this whilst supposedly not even making the team properly play his style yet! Proved a lot of people wrong, including me! Deserves all the praise. 20 done. On to 21 and beyond! COME ON YOU REDS! YNWA!

  68. Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, speaking to Sky Sports, said: “It is incredible to win this with our fans. This is 100% better than last time [in 2020], especially with the fans. We have a different group now so to show we can do it again is something special.”
  69. On Arne Slot: “He is very honest. The Dutch are quite tough but he made our lives easier. I am glad that we have won it here [at Anfield].”
  70. On playing a different role under Slot, after taking his goal involvements for the Premier League season to 46 in total – 28 goals and 18 assists: “You can see the numbers. Now I don’t have to defend much. The tactics are quite different. I said ‘as long as you rest me defensively I will provide offensively’, so I am glad that I did. He listened a lot and you can see the numbers.”
  71. On winning the league in front of the fans at Anfield: “Watching the Arsenal-Crystal Palace game, I didn’t want to win it then. I wanted an experience we haven’t had before.”

  85. Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions in style as Tottenham Hotspur were demolished on a day of wild celebrations and emotion at Anfield.
  86. Arne Slot’s side needed only a point to complete the formalities of their coronation, although Spurs briefly threatened a plot twist when former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke headed them into an early lead.
  87. The shock jolted Liverpool into action – Luis Diaz turned in Dominik Szoboszlai’s pass from close range to equalise on 16 minutes, and Alexis Mac Allister fired them in front with a strike from the edge of the area.
  88. Anfield’s title party really started when Cody Gakpo was allowed time and space inside the area to turn and score Liverpool’s third after 34 minutes.
  89. Liverpool laid siege to the Spurs goal in front of the Kop in the second half, Mohamed Salah cutting inside to get on the scoresheet in the 63rd minute.
  90. As Spurs collapsed, Destiny Udogie turned into his own net under pressure from Salah six minutes later.
  91. The win extended Liverpool’s lead over second-placed Arsenal to an unassailable 15 points with four games of the season remaining.

  93. Right, let’s start off by explaining what happened on Sunday, starting with a report of Liverpool’s title-securing triumph over Tottenham…
  94. That’s the agenda for the morning.
  95. We would, of course, be happy to hear from non-Liverpool supporters on their title win, including where you believe your club fell down in their Premier League challenge and what they need to do to challenge the Reds for next season’s title.

Arne Slot yesterday became only the sixth manager to win the Premier League in his first season at a club after guiding Liverpool to a record-equalling 20th top-flight title.

The Dutchman took over at Anfield from Jurgen Klopp last summer and joined the likes of former Chelsea managers Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Antonio Conte, as well as Manuel Pellegrini (Manchester City) and Claudio Ranieri in clinching a first Premier League title in his debut season with a club.

His achievement helped Liverpool to a second title of the Premier League era, following Jurgen Klopp’s triumph in the 2019-20 season, and first in front of supporters since 1990, after their last crown was won during Covid restrictions.

It also helped the Reds draw level with north-west rivals Manchester United in winning 20 top-flight titles.
