WASHINGTON (TNND) — A 13-year-old cancer survivor had a very special moment Tuesday during President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress.
Trump announced DJ, a brain cancer survivor, as an honorary member of the U.S. Secret Service and said the boy had always dreamed of becoming a police officer.
“In 2018 DJ was diagnosed with brain cancer. The doctors gave him five months at most to live. That was more than six years ago,” Trump said as applause rang out.
Trump added that since then, DJ and his dad have been on a quest to make his dream of becoming a police officer come true, which has happened several times.
“Police departments love him. And tonight, DJ, we’re going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service.”
The boy’s eyes grew wide as his father lifted him up and Curran handed him his Secret Service credential.
The sweet moment ends with DJ giving Curran a large hug around the neck.
