It’s officially Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and as parade-goers wake up bright and early for parades, the North Side Skull and Bone Gang took to the streets in Treme. Masked men dressed as skeletons danced and sang in the streets, waking up revelers who are making their way to the parade routes. Unlike most revelers during Mardi Gras, frivolity is not their thing; instead, they aim to remind New Orleanians of their mortality. The Northside Skull and Bone Gang began the day at 1924 Bayou Road., the oldest road in the city. The procession ended at Lil Peoples, 1226 Barracks.
