Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe had a mixed-bag shooting during Monday night’s 119-102 win at the Philadelphia 76ers, but he still made his mark on the game.
Sharpe had a career-high 11 rebounds with five assists. He also scored 20 points on 8-of-17 shooting while going 1 of 7 from long distance.
This is the second night in five games during the team’s seven-game trip that Sharpe has set a personal record. He scored a career-high 36 points during Wednesday’s 129-121 win at Washington.
Against Philadelphia, Sharpe scored nine points in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.
“I think my goal is to always be aggressive,” Sharpe told reporters at the Wells Fargo Center. “I just came out in the second half trying to do that.”
Blazers coach Chauncey Billups said Sharpe’s rebounding greatly impacted the game. The Blazers outrebounded Philadelphia 61-43. He finished second on the team in rebounding behind rookie center Donovan Clingan’s 13.

“We needed those rebounds in a major way,” Billups told reporters. “I think he’s maybe the most athletic guy in basketball. So, I need him going to get those tough rebounds and he did that tonight.”
During the trip, Billups repeatedly praised Sharpe’s play on defense, and that continued on Monday. Billups liked how Sharpe bounced back from giving up some clutch baskets during Sunday’s 133-129 overtime loss at Cleveland.
“I thought his defense was good all night,” Billups said. “I know he was disappointed in himself a little bit, giving up some big baskets last night. And this is how you respond. You come, you’re completely locked in. I think offense is easy for Shaedon. He can make it look very easy. The defensive side is totally different. When he’s locked in defensively, it makes his offense even easier.”
