Just hours before the game between Daegu FC and Barça, there was an institutional event at the FC Barcelona team hotel in Daegu. President Joan Laporta and the members of the board who have made the trip to Asia held a meeting with the mayor of Daegu, Jung-ki Kim.
Also present were the president of the Daegu Football Association, Tae Won Choi, the CEO of Daegu FC Kwang rae Cho, the CEO of D-Drive Seul Ha and Nam Hai vice president Hyeongseok Kim.
Laporta: “We feel at home”
Barça president Joan Laporta spoke about his team’s stay in South Korea. ” We are more than happy to be here, we feel at home. We have come across a lot of passionate fans,” said the president ahead of the game against Daegu FC which he said will be a “great spectacle.”
For his part the mayor of Daegu, Jung ki-Kim, gave his view on Barça’s visit to his city: “We have a lot in common and we can learn a lot from Barcelona.”
The mayor added that Monday’s game is putting Daegu on the may alongside the 2026 World Masters Athletics Championships and the ISSF Shooting World Championships which will also take place in Daegu over the next few years.
