BRISTOL, Tenn. — After just getting one inning of baseball at the visually impressive Bristol Motor Speedway MLB setup on Saturday night due to rain, the Braves and Reds will be back at it on Sunday.
The record-breaking crowd on hand for the first staging of a regular season Major League Baseball game in Tennessee was left disappointed as the game was delayed more than 2 hours at the start, then again postponed shortly after its start.
A number of fans reported logistical issues as the delay stretched resources at Bristol Motor Speedway. It’s unclear now how many of the more than 80,000 fans who were there Saturday will have flexed their plans to come back on Sunday.
- What time does the game resume? 1 p.m. ET
- When do gates open? 10 a.m. ET
- Where is it on TV? It will be back on FOX as it was Saturday night.
- Are tickets still good? Tickets issued for the Saturday night game are still good for Sunday’s resumption.
- Is it going to rain again? The Weather Channel’s forecast for Bristol on Sunday doesn’t include significant rain chances beyond a slight chance of a shower.
Among other items of note beyond the basics, the Braves have “called up” Hurston Waldrep to fill a temporary extra roster spot — it’s possible the right-hander, taken in the first round of the 2023 draft and ranked by MLB.com as Atlanta’s No. 4 prospect, will get a chance to pitch.
It’s unclear if Saturday night’s starter, Spencer Strider, will take the mound. Pitchers who will take the mound when the game resumes have not yet been announced.
The score will be 1-0, Cincinnati, when the game resumes, after the Reds punched in a run in the bottom of the first on Saturday night.
