The Trading and Cooking Event Update introduced a trading system to Grow a Garden to make it easier for everyone to safely trade. This new feature revolves around the Trading Ticket item that you can get from the Gear Stall. Continue reading for how to get a Trading Ticket, how to use one, and what you can trade.
Before you can trade with another player, you’ll need to get a Trading Ticket. You can buy one from the Gear Stall for 100,000 Sheckles as long as it’s in stock. Fortunately, it’s an Uncommon item, which means it has a good chance of being in stock.
While it’s not a guarantee, this item seems to restock with at least one or two in stock when it’s available. So make sure to stock up when they’re in the shop, just in case you need them later.
Similar to many items in Grow a Garden, you’ll need to equip the Trading Ticket before you can use it. You can do this by clicking or tapping it from your inventory or hotkey bar. Afterward, find the person that you want to trade with while holding the Trading Ticket. Then, interact with them to send a trade request.
The other player will see a small window on the right side of their screen asking if they want to accept the trade. Once they accept your trade request, you’ll lose your Trading Ticket. You won’t get it back even if the trade doesn’t go through after this point.
Now that the trade window is visible, you can add items by pressing the green plus button or typing in Sheckles in the “Add Sheckles…” box near the bottom. While searching for items to add to the trade, you won’t be able to add anything that you’ve favorited. So if it has a little red heart next to it, you’ll need to undo that to trade it.
If you accidentally added an item or want to remove one for any reason, all you need to do is tap it again to get rid of it.
If you’re wondering how to trade items like seeds, gear items, or cosmetics, you won’t be able to trade those. It’s possible this could change at a later time, but it isn’t currently possible.
During the trade, you’ll be able to see the value of each person’s offer by looking at the top. This is an attempt to estimate the value for creating fair trades. However, it can only estimate so well, so try not to rely on this. Also, you can hover over an item on PC or hold down on it on mobile to see more information. Such as what mutations are on a fruit or how old a pet is.
Once you’re both happy with the trade, press the green Accept button to advance the trade forward. There will be one more chance to confirm the trade after this. Although if anyone adds or removes an item before you’ve both accepted, you’ll need to accept the trade again.
This is one of a few ways the Grow a Garden trading system tries to prevent scamming. Once you’ve both accepted, you’ll then see both offers and their values without an opportunity to change them further. If you’re not happy with the deal, you can press the Decline button. But, if you want to complete the trade, you’ll both need to press the Confirm button.
This will complete the trade after a few seconds while the game quickly processes it. If you’d prefer not to trade in Grow a Garden, you can disable trade requests by going into the game settings. Press the gear icon at the top left of your screen to open them.
It’s important to pay attention while trading so neither player ends up with a deal they don’t want. Especially since it’s easy to accidentally remove an item. But, you also want to keep watching just in case someone tries to scam you.
A useful feature to prevent scamming is that every time someone adds or removes something, the Accept button will have a five second cooldown. This makes it so you can’t complete the trade immediately when changes happen.
