Clemson 54, Virginia 48 | 7:43 2HUVA finally gets the offense going after the break, with back to back threes from Saunders and Rohde to quickly cut the lead back to two, before Chase Hunter flies through the lane for a quick two. Rohde answers a Zackery bucket with a floater of his own, and the offensive action is strong between both teams for the time being. Rohde is up to 12 PTS (5-9 FG). Clemson big-man Lakhin draws a foul and finishes down low for the and-one – his FT is good and he’s got a hard-earned 12 PTS (4-10 FG) along with 6 REB.

Clemson 47, Virginia 39 | 11:27 2H

Zackery drills a jumper from midrange for the Tigers, making it a 10-0 run for Clemson and a 15-2 run over the last four minutes. The UVA offense suddenly looks out of sync, and a shot clock violation only confirms that, giving the ball back to Clemson. Cofie swats away a Lakhin layup attempt down low. Virginia has eight blocks so far on the night. Zackery’s corner three-pointer is good. Rohde gets blocked down low, and Schieffelin powers his way into the paint for another two. He’s been unstoppable in the half, and his physical presence seems a bit too much for any of the UVA big men to handle. He’s up to 17 PTS, with 9 already in the second half. The 20-2 run from Clemson sees them up eight points, their largest lead of the evening,.

Clemson 40, Virginia 39 | 14:10 2HMcKneely gets the second-half scoring started with a catch-and-shoot corner three – he’s 4-5 from deep this afternoon. On the next UVA posession, Rohde finsihes quick layup off a clean assist from Buchanan before Clemson’s Zackery drives through the lane for a tough layup, his second FG on the day.

Schieffelin wins the battle against a mismatched Rohde down low, finishing a layup plus the foul. Rohde responds, connecting on a sweet turnaround hook shot before Schieffelin powers into the lane for a dunk – the 6′ 8″ foward has come alive to start the second half. Jones slashes into the lane for another easy 2 PT layup for Clemson, who is attacking the paint early. Jones intercepts a pass on the next UVA possession, and drives all the way for his second straight bucket. After a McKneely missed three, Schieffelin gets yet another layup down low, this time following up his own miss, and t’s an 8-0 run for Clemson who now take the lead. This is the type of start out of the break that UVA cannot afford against the #13 team in the nation.

Clemson 27, Virginia 32 | HALFTIMEMcKneely goes 2-2 from the stripe, and the Cavaliers make a great defensive stop behind strong discipline from Robinson and McKneely. On the other end, Robinson dunks over a Clemson defender for his first FG of the game. Schieffelin gets to the FT line via a Robinson foul down low, he is good on both from the line. The battle between Schieffelin and Robinson is a fun one to watch right now.

Cofie flys to the rim and draws contact for the foul – Cofie misses both FT. Clemson has gone nearly four minutes without a FG, but Virginia hasn’t taken advantage of the opportunity to extend the lead. Early stat to note – Clemson does not have a single three-pointer in the contest (0-2 3PT FG).

With less than a minute left in the half, Rohde drives and draws a foul on the floor. Virginia is in the bonus, and Rohde goes 1-2 from the line. Neither team scores in the final thirty seconds, and UVA takes a five point lead into halftime.

Clemson 25, Virginia 27 | 3:37 FHBoth teams exchange misses out of the break before Lakhin displays some strong footwork in the paint leading to an easy two. He’s leading the Tigers with 9 PTS early. After a strong defensive stop from Taine Murray, Virginia gives the ball right back to Clemson thanks to an Anthony Robinson offensive foul.

An Andrew Rohde block gets Virginia the ball, and they capitalize as McKneely drives and earns his first trip to the free throw line of the night. He shoots when we return from the media timeout.

Lakhin is good on both FT, before Dai Dai Ames connects on a deep three late in the shot clock. After an easy Schieffelin bucket down low, Ames drills his second straight three-pointer to get JPJ on their feet. Timeout Clemson. UVA is an impressive 5-10 from three on the day.

Clemson 19, Virginia 21 | 7:51 FHChase Hunter banks in a nice midrange two, before Rohde drives and connects on a floater late in the shot clock. Clemson comes right back, with Jake Heidbreder getting an easy layup on a nice cut, before Blake Buchanan gets down low and slams home an easy dunk, assisted by Rohde. After a strong defensive possession, McKeely misses a three-pointer but Buchanan battles for the loose ball and draws a foul. Strong early compete from Buchanan and Virginia. Saunders dunks home an alley-oop from Murray, before Zachery gets through the lane for a layup. Schieffelin gets another easy two down low on the next Clemson possession. The Tigers have connected on 6 of their last 7 from the field.

Lakin gets fouled down low rolling off a screen. Free throws for the big man when we return from the break.

Clemson 11, Virginia 15 | 11:48 FHSaunders battles down low, connecting on a fade for his first FG of the night. After a miss from Clemson G Jaeden Zackery, McKneely drills his third three of the night on as many attempts. It’s a blistering start for McKneely, who’s coming off a 27 point performance in the win against Wake Forest. Virginia is on a 13-1 run until Chase Hunter connects on a long two for his first bucket of the contest. Viktor Lahkin makes a nice spin-move and gets to the rim for an easy two around Cofie.

Buchanan gets the Hoos on the board with a strong dunk down low. Saunders gets to the line for his first two points of the night. Clemson is 3-4 to start from the field. Murray drives basline and finds McKneely for a clean corner three. After a defensive stop, McKneely launches another three and connects – he’s 2-2 from deep to start and the ‘Hoos are out of the gate with some momentum early. 10-6 Virginia, timeout Clemson.
