The “perfect date” is turning 25.
William Shatner is once again celebrating Miss Congeniality‘s memorable moment with a post on X as the film nears its 25th anniversary this December.
“Happy 25th anniversary of #ThePerfectDate” Shatner, 94, captioned the post, adding stills from the infamous scene with wholesome and delightfully naive Cheryl Frasier, a.k.a. Miss Rhode Island.
Fans of Miss Congeniality have created an unofficial holiday around the scene, during which Shatner’s character Stan Fields asks Frasier to describe her perfect date mid-pageant. “That’s a tough one,” she responds. “I’d have to say April 25. Because it’s not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.”
Directed by Donald Petrie, the action-comedy follows FBI agent Gracie Hart (Bullock), who goes undercover as Miss New Jersey to stop a dangerous threat against the Miss United States beauty pageant. Bullock is joined by a star-studded cast, including Benjamin Bratt, Heather Burns, Michael Caine and Shatner.

Burns, 50, who played Frasier, has become synonymous with the date April 25, thanks to her most memorable line in the comedy.
“I’m very grateful for the day, because it gives me a chance to connect with fans of the film and old friends. I love having been a part of something that has been meaningful for so long to so many people,” Burns told PEOPLE in 2021.
On how she celebrates the day, she added, “I usually spend April 25 walking around New York City, in a light jacket, enjoying the perfect weather.”
Upon its release in 2000, Miss Congeniality became a massive box office hit, earning $107 million, according to Forbes. Its success led to a 2005 sequel, in which many characters reprised their roles.
