AP: 2 killed, 3 injured in GSR shooting

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Update at 11:03 a.m.: The Associated Press is reporting that two people were killed and at least three people were sent to the hospital in a shooting at the GSR.

Police say there is no threat to the public.

Update at 8:47 a.m.: The Reno Police Department says the suspect, identified only as an adult male, has been hospitalized in an unknown condition.

RPD says the call came in at around 7:25 a.m. on Monday. Several victims were shot in the incident, but their condition is unknown.

Officers arrived on scene four to five minutes later and opened fire on the suspect.

The shooting occurred outside the casino in the valet area. Police say the bulk of the crime occurred there, but that the crime scene extended to the north side of the parking lot.

The northwest side of the parking lot of the GSR is now closed.

Multiple people were wounded in the incident, but the exact number remains unclear, as some are believed to have self-transported to the hospital.

A motive for the suspect is unknown at this time.

Some of the officers who responded to the scene sustained minor injuries, but did not have gunshot wounds.

The Sparks Police Department has taken over the investigation

Update at 8:28 a.m.: Police the suspected shooter is now in custody.

Update at 8:10 a.m.: Police say an incident that prompted a heavy police presence stemmed from a shooting.

No information about victims was immediately available.

Officials with the GSR say operations have not been affected and no evacuations were issued.
