Eric Garcia has been full of praise for new Barcelona signing Roony Bardghj after he scored on his debut on Sunday.

Eric, Roony and young Dro Fernandez were on target as Hansi Flick’s side kicked off pre-season with a 3-1 win over Vissel Kobe in Japan.

Roony is said to have impressed in his first few training sessions with the Catalans, and Eric admits he’s taken the team by surprise.

“I think the new additions are doing very well. We already knew Joan from LaLiga,” he said, via Mundo Deportivo.

“He’s a great goalkeeper and it’s hard to score against him in training. Roony has really surprised us these days, and we all know how good Marcus is. I see a lot of quality among the young players.”

Garcia was also asked about the situation with Marc-Andre ter Stegen amid speculation the goalkeeper could lose the captaincy at the club.

“It’s a matter the manager is handling (the captaincy vote). I suppose the manager will talk about it when we return to Barcelona,” he answered.

“Last year there was a vote, this year I don’t know what it will be like, so we’ll wait until we get back and see.”

The team now head out to South Korea for the next two fixtures on their tour against FC Seoul and Daegu.
