Bruno Fernandes was named as our Man of the Match after United’s 2-1 Premier League Summer Series win against West Ham.

Our skipper netted a first-half penalty before curling in a sublime effort in the second period, with these goals proving to be enough to edge the Hammers in the match at the MetLife Stadium.

Bruno played in an advanced midfield role, alongside Matheus Cunha, and the duo linked up well during a first half where Ruben Amorim’s men imposed ourselves on West Ham.

After frantic early stages which featured Rasmus Hojlund hitting the post following a Fernandes pass, Alphonse Areola took down Ayden Heaven in the box.

Bruno converted the penalty and after half-time, took our lead to two.

The skipper received the ball on the edge of the box and curled it into the far corner, giving Areola no chance.

After the game, we asked fans to vote for their standout player from the match and, unsurprisingly, Bruno came out on top.

Fernandes gained 67 per cent of the vote, with the industrious Manuel Ugarte getting seven per cent and Mainoo accumulating six per cent.

In the first half in particular, United were very impressive, both in defence and attack.

Despite his team-mates also performing to a high level, our skipper’s influence and quality cannot be understated, resulting in yet another Man of the Match award.

Congratulations, Bruno.
