Judge out of lineup with ‘elbow issue’ for Saturday’s game vs. Phillies

NEW YORK — The Yankees will be without their Captain, Aaron Judge, on Saturday afternoon against the Phillies because of a right elbow injury, according to manager Aaron Boone. Judge had imaging done on the elbow, but the team has not received the results.

Judge hurt the elbow after making a throw against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Grimacing in pain, Judge stayed in the game. He went on to play the next two games against Toronto and Philadelphia, respectively. He thought the off-day on Thursday would help ease the pain, but he was struggling to throw the baseball on Friday against the Phillies.

“I’m obviously concerned, but we’ll wait and see, read the imaging and hopefully have more [information] later today,” Boone said.

Judge went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in Friday night’s 12-5 loss to Philadelphia. Combined with the Blue Jays’ victory over the Tigers, the Yankees slipped to 5 1/2 games back in the American League East. New York is currently leading for the first AL Wild Card spot.

Judge, who won his second AL Most Valuable Player Award in 2024, is having another sensational season for the Yankees, leading the Majors in a wide variety of statistical categories. Judge has slashed .342/.449/.711 with 37 homers in 103 games in 2025.
