Starting pitcher Will Warren went 5.2 innings and allowed two earned runs.
The Yankees lost to the Phillies, 12-5.

Their ERA since late-June is over 7.
It’s not just one culprit. It’s all the culprits.

The struggles certainly point out that the Yankees should probably trade for bullpen help before the trade deadline. But by the same token, relief pitching is such a fickle, fluky endeavor that that’s not even guaranteed to fix anything.
But the Yankees have to try, because this current recipe simply isn’t working anymore.
