The Russos Use Fantastic Four Post-Credits Scene to Hype up Avengers: Doomsday

In the wake of the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the Russo brothers have teased its connection to their much-awaited MCU movie, Avengers: Doomsday. The directing duo recently took to social media to share a promotional post for the first entry in Phase Six of the MCU, wherein they urged fans to stay back in order to catch its post-credits scene.

The Russos tease Fantastic Four’s post-credits scene, directed by them

On July 24, the Russos shared a poster of the Fantastic Four movie on their joint Instagram profile to commemorate the movie’s theatrical release, while also hinting at its tie-in with 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday.

Alongside the film’s one-sheet, Joe and Anthony Russo also added a detailed caption, congratulating director Matt Shakman and his crew for their work on the movie. “Huge congrats to Matt Shakman and the entire cast and crew!! Fantastic 4 is awesome! Go see it this weekend…,” the pair noted.

The Russos concluded their caption by asking fans who are planning to see The Fantastic Four: First Steps to stick around after the credits roll to see the film’s post-credits scene, which seemingly leads into next year’s Avengers: Doomsday. They heightened fan expectations by writing, “And stay in your seats for the credits… #DoomsdayIsComing.”

While the Russos are making a return to the MCU with Avengers: Doomsday following a seven-year hiatus from the franchise, the Primetime Emmy winning duo have already left their mark on recent Marvel projects. The directors notably helmed the post-credits scene of Jake Schreier’s Thunderbolts* before doing the same for Fantastic Four. Notably, both these sequences tie into the Russos’ Avengers: Doomsday, which will regroup all the active Marvel superheroes in one story for the first time since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps hit screens on July 25, 2025, and leads into Avengers: Doomsday, which is on track to premiere in theaters on December 18, 2026.
