In just a few hours former Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter will hear his name called in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft.
Hunter put the finishing touches on a historic college football career by becoming the only player in history to win both the Chuck Bednarik Award, as the nation’s top defensive player, and the Fred Biletnikoff Award, as the nation’s best wide receiver. As his reward he’ll likely be one of the first players off the board on April 24 – the Cleveland Browns are the betting favorite to select him with the No. 2 pick.
While Hunter dominated the 2024 college football season en route to winning the Heisman Trophy, his fiancee, Leanna Lenee, didn’t have as much luck. She became the ire of many on social media for her behavior during the trophy ceremony – and the 2024 season.
After receiving flak from fans during the season, Lenee initially made her Instagram private before eventually deleting it entirely. She opted to leave her TikTok account active at the time, delivering a message for her followers.
“This is making me so mad because anyone who knows me knows I support Travis in every win, everything he does, because I truly, truly love that man,” she said in her defense of the Heisman moment.
“He is perfect in my eyes. When his name was called, I instantly was going to… If you watch the video, you can see me like [gestures like she was about to stand],” she added. “But his mom didn’t get up. So I was like, ‘Oh, maybe I don’t get up. Maybe I just sit here with her.’ So I sat there and then you all said, ‘Coach Prime had to tell me to get up.’ No, he didn’t. He said, ‘Go get him. Go get your man.’ But he didn’t have to do that because I was going to do that anyways.
“As soon as I seen Travis get up, then I thought it was appropriate to stand up, greet him, congratulate him. But then there was a camera right in front of Coach Prime, and I knew they were going to film that moment. And because of how people are online, I was like, ‘I don’t want to be in that shot, so I’m going to sit down.’ So I tried to sit down. So I’m not in the camera while I’m crying.”
After posting the video, Lenee made her TikTok account private before eventually making it public against a few weeks later – with a significantly altered catalogue of posts. Her account now features just seven total videos.
