‘Big Brother’ Season 27: Meet the South Dakota ‘farm kid’ competing as a houseguest

Kelley Jorgensen, a 29-year-old web designer and self-described farm kid from South Dakota, will be one of at least 16 contestants on Season 27 of the CBS reality show “Big Brother.”

Jorgensen is from Burbank, a community of fewer than 100 people near Vermillion in Clay County.

“I’m a farm kid and I have farm kid grit,” Jorgensen told Parade magazine. “There’s no such thing as ‘I’m tired of this task,’ and ‘I’m done with it,’ or ‘this task is too hard and I’m done and I’m just going to go inside.’ No, we finish the task.”

Jorgensen’s small-town background could help her compete with the other contestants, she said.

“My graduating class was 64, and it was us from kindergarten to senior year graduation. The same people, the same building, all 13 years,” she said. “So I’m used to being locked in a room. This would be perfect for me.”

She also describes herself as a solo traveler, having been to all 50 states and 42 countries.

“I’ve stayed in hostels. I’m good with communal living and sharing a kitchen and sharing a bathroom with 16 people,” she told the magazine. “This is second nature to me. This is going to be great.”
