Amanda Anisimova is enjoying her Wimbledon run at the moment with a gritty 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 semifinal victory over world-class Aryna Sabalenka on Thursday.

The 23-year-old American held her nerve on Centre Court, becoming the first player born in the 21st century to reach a Wimbledon final. With this win, Anisimova also became the youngest American woman to reach the final since Serena Williams in 2004.
But while the tennis world applauded her biggest career win, the most emotional part of Anisimova’s day came after the match.
Speaking courtside, she took a moment to thank her family especially her sister Maria Egge, brother-in-law and their four-year-old son Jaxon, who was attending his very first tennis match.

“I have my beautiful family over there,” Anisimova said, gesturing toward the stands. “My sister, my nephew, my brother-in-law and his whole beautiful family. I also think my best friend is here, but I couldn’t spot her at first.”

Jaxon, her nephew, had flown in that morning. “It’s his birthday on Thursday,” Amanda said according to CNN Sports.
“He’s turning four, and this was the first match he’s seen in person. I’m just super grateful they flew in and got to experience this with me. It doesn’t happen often. It’s super special.”
Later on Instagram, she shared a heartfelt post: “The most special part of it all 🥹 getting to experience this with my nephew and some of family here, ahhhh I could cry !! Xxx”
Born in New Jersey to Russian parents, Anisimova’s family moved to Florida when she was three. Her older sister Maria once played college tennis at the University of Pennsylvania.

With one more match to go, Anisimova now awaits victory against Iga Swiatek, who won against Belinda Bencic on Thursday. A great finals is on its way.
