At least 43 people — including 15 children — have died after severe flash floods inundated parts of Central Texas, including a girls’ summer camp along the Guadalupe River.
The big picture: Flooding began early Friday about 65 miles northwest of San Antonio and has since spread across the region, triggering evacuations and leaving communities in Kerr, Travis, Burnet and Williamson counties devastated.

Red Cross shelters and aid
The Red Cross has opened shelters for flood survivors in Kerrville and Comfort. They’re providing food, shelter and emergency support. Donations help sustain their disaster response.
Support search and rescue teams
Volunteer crews are working around the clock.
- TEXSAR, an all-volunteer search and rescue team based in Austin, has deployed to Kerr County.
- The United Cajun Navy is also on the ground in Central Texas, assisting with rescues, supply deliveries and recovery support.
