Sinners producer Sev Ohanian has shared a fun Marvel easter egg about the costumes that the background actors wore in the acclaimed Michael B. Jordan-led vampire movie. This comes after nearly three months since movie had its theatrical debut.

Besides Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and MCU stars Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, and Wunmi Mosaka, it looks like Sinners has more hidden connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a recent interview, Ohanian confirmed that Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter originally made the Sinners extras’ costumes for Marvel Studios’ Blade movie. He revealed that the blockbuster studio allowed them to buy the costumes, after the original plan for Blade’s production fell through.

“Ruth Carter was working on the Blade movie that ended up not shooting,” Ohanian shared. “At one point that movie was going to deal with, and she’s talked about this before, but at one point that film was going to deal with the past around the same era.”

He continued, “She happened to have a warehouse full of period-appropriate clothes. And it was like, ‘Yo, we got to shoot this movie like tomorrow.’ And Marvel was generous enough and kind enough to let us basically purchase it at price.”

The film was written, directed, and produced by Coogler. Besides Jordan, the cast also includes Hailee Steinfeld as Mary, Jack O’Connell as Remmick, Miles Caton as Sammie Moore, Buddy Guy as Old Sammie, Jayme Lawson as Pearline, Wunmi Mosaku as Annie, Delroy Lindo as Delta Slim, Omar Benson Miller as Cornbread, Li Jun Li as Grace Chow, and more. Since its debut, the movie currently holds a Certified Fresh rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 375 reviews.
