While the Golden State Warriors have been quiet through the first 48 hours of free agency, the rest of the league has been busy. As a series of signings and trades spread throughout the league, the start of free agency was headlined by the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Bucks inked former Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner to a new four-year contract. To have the proper funds and space to sign Turner, the Bucks surprisingly waived nine-time All-Star point guard Damian Lillard. After being waived and stretched by the Bucks, the 34-year-old point guard will become a free agent with the power to sign anywhere.

As reports are indicating multiple teams are showing interest in Lillard, one of them could be the Warriors. In an appearance on ESPN’s NBA Today, Marc J. Spears linked the Warriors to the new free agent point guard. After providing an update on Jonathan Kuminga, Spears revealed the Warriors are one of the teams to reach out to Lillard.
Another thing that I’m hearing — of the many teams that reached out to Damian Lillard, the Warriors are one of those teams. This is a guy that grew up going to games at Oracle Arena, sneaking into the media room getting sodas. Grew up a Warriors fan. That’s interesting. I know Kuminga’s big, but hearing that the Warriors do have interest in Dame, I know that’s very interesting to Bay Area people.
In his 13th season in the association, Lillard averaged 24.9 points on 44.8% shooting from the field snd 37.6% shooting from deep to go along with 7.1 assists and 4.7 rebounds per contest.
Lillard’s season came to an end when he suffered a torn Achilles in the opening round of the postseason. Whichever team Lillard chooses in free agency, they will have to wait before he gets on the court, as Lillard will continue to rehab his Achilles injury.
