The Texas Rangers scored a couple of runs while the San Francisco Giants were held off the board.
The Astros lost tonight. So too did the Mariners. The Rangers won. In fact, they shut out their opponents.
Wyatt Langford is slashing .350/.429/.700 and looks like the Trout-ian threat we expected him to be last year.
Nathan Eovaldi tossed six innings of scoreless ball, allowing just three hits and walk to go with seven strikeouts in a sensational outing as he battled fellow veteran Justin Verlander in a throwback pitchers’ duel.
Luke Jackson rebounded from a blown effort last night to pick up the save as the bullpen as a whole tossed three scoreless innings.
The game was on Apple TV+, which means if you watched it, you have the ability to watch Severance, a quality television show.
24 hours after a turd in not-Oakland, and things feel way more chipper.
Player of the Game: Things are chipper because the Rangers have Wyatt Langford and the other teams do not. Tonight the Rangers won because they pitched extremely well but also because Langford went 3-for-4 with a couple of doubles and essentially was the offense all by himself.
Though it should be noted that Joc Pederson drove in the game’s second and final run with a ball that squeezed through the infield with runners on. It was designated hitter Pederson’s first RBI as a Ranger. We will ignore the fact that the season is just shy of a month old.
Up Next: The Rangers and Giants will play another baseball game tomorrow and we won’t even have to wait up until midnight for the conclusion, assuming it’s not like a 60-inning game or something. RHP Tyler Mahle will take the mound for Texas opposite LHP Robbie Ray for San Francisco.
The Saturday afternoon first pitch from Oracle Park is scheduled for 3:05 pm CT and will be shown nationally on FOX.
