NOW THIS CLEARWATER FERRY AUTHORITIES SAY WAS CARRYING 45 PEOPLE WHEN A BOAT HIT IT AND SPED OFF. One person is dead and multiple people were injured after a hit-and-run crash involving a ferry in Clearwater Sunday night, police said.The Clearwater Police Department said around 10 p.m. that they were investigating a boat crash near the Memorial Causeway bridge.Police reported that the crash resulted from a hit-and-run incident on the water, where a boat collided with the Clearwater Ferry and fled the scene.Officials said the Clearwater Ferry was carrying 45 passengers at the time of the crash. After the crash, the ferry came to rest on a sandbar south of the Memorial Causeway bridge.Multiple trauma alerts were called, and helicopters transported two people who were seriously injured.At least one person has been reported dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, according to police.Details on a possible suspect have not been released.
